We took our one shot. 💥
West Central MN CEO sat down with Peter Taunton — Founder of Snap Fitness.
He grew up with not much in Willmar, MN. Poor, but not too poor. He got big because he was hungry for something better.
And the most inspiring part? He’s still humble. Feet on the ground.
3 takeaways we’re carrying into our businesses:
1. BOOTSTRAP.
It just means putting the money you make back into your business. Peter didn’t pay cash for carpet and paint when he revamped his first club — he traded gym memberships for it. You don’t always need cash. You need creativity.
2. GO ALL IN.
Don’t go 50% and play it safe. As Peter said: “Don’t be the person who says, ‘I was going to do that.’” You have to make the jump. Even scared. Do it scared. You can’t succeed unless you fail.
3. STAY HUMBLE.
Money doesn’t make the man. Don’t let the money make you. Lead with compassion, humility, and tough love. And make sure people are in the right position — if they’re not performing, they might just be in the wrong seat.
And for 2026: If you’re not using AI, you’re playing with one hand behind your back. And tell people you’re different — then prove it.
Thank you, Peter, for the real talk.
We won’t be the ones who say “we were going to.”
